About First Baptist Raytown's Orchestra
It is the dream of growing a family of instrumentalists whose primary goals are to lead our church in weekly worship and provide vital support to our choral and vocal ministries that drives the orchestra ministry of First Baptist Raytown.
 It is the dream of growing a family of instrumentalists committed to excellence in music performance, with the ability to play a diverse range of styles from traditional to contemporary at a highly advanced level that sets the orchestra ministry apart.
It is the dream of growing a family of instrumentalists who encourage, edify, love and minister to one another that draws musicians into the orchestra ministry.
It is the dream of growing a 50-member adult orchestra that makes the orchestra ministry forward-thinking.
It is the dream of an instrumental family that reaches out to the instrumentalists in the Kansas City community, sharing with them the good news of Jesus Christ and bringing them into the small group support structure of the instrumental music ministry that creates the lasting impact of First Baptist Raytown's orchestra ministry.
Our Purpose
The Instrumental Music Ministry provides an opportunity for musicians to worship God through instrumental music, modeled after Old Testament temple worship. Our instrumental groups lead in worship through regular features, preludes and concerts. Our instrumental groups provide support to our choral and vocal ministries. We lead in worship by being spiritually and musically prepared. We give God all the honor and glory for those talents and abilities that He has given us.
 Our Groups
Celebration Orchestra
Our adult orchestra is the “flagship” of our instrumental music ministry. The orchestra provides vital support to the Celebration Choir in our weekly worship services, as well as in special events such as our Freedom Celebration and Christmas pageant. We also present an annual orchestra praise concert and perform in other special events. The group is open to advanced high school students through adults, with a passion in leading our people in worship. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30– 8:30pm in A213.
Celebration Praise Band
Our contemporary praise band leads our people in worship for our Sunday evening services and other special events, and provides support for our praise teams. The group is composed of a rhythm section, with the addition of a horn section (saxophones, trumpets, and trombones) for special events.
Handbell Choir
Our Handbell Choir rehearses on Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 - 1:00 pm in A213 during the fall.
