The Celebration Academy of the Arts is a ministry of First Baptist Raytown that offers private and class instruction in the fine arts. Established in 1993, the academy teaches students of all ages and levels.
The purpose of the Celebration Academy of the Arts is to provide the highest level of excellence in fine arts education within a Christian environment, to train our students to be of service in their church and to glorify God through their talents and to fill a need in arts education for the members of our community.
“All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of the Lord. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, lyres and harps at the house of God…They and their families were all trained in making music before the Lord, and each of them - 288 in all – was an accomplished musician. The musicians were appointed to their particular time of service by means of sacred lots, without regard to whether they were young or old, teacher or student.” 1 Chronicles 25:6-8
Private music lessons are available for students of all ages and levels who would like to receive one on one instruction. Instruction is currently available in drums, electronic keyboard, flute, French horn, clarinet, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, Suzuki piano, piano, violin, viola, cello, trumpet and voice. More instruments are added all the time, so if you would like to learn an instrument not listed, call to see if it is being offered. Private lessons are scheduled on an individual basis through the academy office. Days and times vary per instructor.
Absence Policy
Make-up lessons for one absence per student are provided during the week following the conclusion of each semester, during the student’s regularly scheduled time. The academy will also offer make-up lessons for all lessons missed due to teacher’s absence or inclement weather. During inclement weather, the Raytown Consolidated School District’s system will be followed.
Teacher Contract
The faculty of Celebration Academy of the Arts signed a contract upon their hire that if at any time they cease to be affiliated with the academy, they will not attempt to take their students to another location.
Child Protection
In accordance with the Child Protection Policy implemented by First Baptist Raytown, all private lessons must take place within the church facility and in a room with a security camera. All lessons will be videotaped to ensure the safety of the students. In addition, background checks are performed on all faculty upon their hire.
