Alzheimer's and Dementia-Related Support Group for Caregivers
The Alzheimer's Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. in B301.
The goal of this group is to be a source of spiritual help and encouragement for those caring for a loved one by providing resources and up-to-date information for the journey ahead. Our mission is to be a centrifuge, for our church family and the community at-large, providing a spiritual environment, educational resources, prayer and encouragement for caregivers of loved ones with dementia.
PURPOSE AND GOALS:
-
To provide a spiritually-based support group for caregivers seeking help, hope and understanding.
-
To be a confidential outlet where caregivers can share their needs and concerns in a loving environment.
-
To provide speakers to educate in various fields of importance regarding dementia.
-
To provide resource information for education and encouragement.
-
To help caregivers attain peace and comfort by sharing God’s love through prayer.
Each week at the same meeting time, we also have a class for the Alzheimer's patients. This support group was designed for the caregivers of these patients, but we realize that the caregivers can't come if there is not a place for the patients. To allow families an opportunity to meet with us, we have loving, qualified caregivers that provide activities for patient's during the time of the support group. The patient's group meets in A132 at the same time. There is no cost, and reservations are not needed.
"Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon they Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:28-31
