First Baptist Raytown home page

Support Groups at First Baptist Raytown are designed to support, love, encourage, and provide resources for hurting people as well as those who have already walked through struggles. Our groups are filled with people who care and know firsthand that God has a plan for all of us. Through these groups you will find a safe, confidential place to share your heart, build relationships, with people who can relate to what you are dealing with, resources that provide answers to some of your challenges and, through God’s word, find the reassurance that He is faithful to restore and renew your life. Currently, we are offering the following support groups:

Celebrate Recovery – freedom from addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors
Divorce Care – for those who have been through or are going through the pain of divorce
Cancer Support – to provide a network with other cancer patients
Grief Recovery Support – for those who have lost a loved one
Marriage on the Rock – for those considering marriage and those who have recently been married
Job-Links – for those who are currently looking for a job
Hope Network – for those who need hope by providing food, shelter, clothing and medical assistance

Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery is a life-changing ministry for individuals seeking freedom from addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors.

Bring your hurts, habits and hang-ups! We are currently addressing men's and women's chemical dependency, codependency, sexual addiction, and offering support for spouses of the sexually addicted.

Following the open share group meetings, we have a coffee and fellowship time. Come experience God's healing power and freedom with others going through a Christ-centered recovery. Celebrate Recovery meets on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in B101. Childcare is available by reservation only.

DivorceCare
Divorce Care meets each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in B112 and is open to members and non-members. Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before. Each meeting consists of a DVD driven seminar and concludes with open discussion. Join us as each session is self contained, therefore you may join at anytime. There is a one-time $6 cost for the workbook, no reservations are necessary. Contact Denise Alt at 816-778-1120 for more information. Childcare is available by reservations only.

Cancer Support Group
The mission of the cancer support group is to honor God's commandments as specified in I John 3:11 & 18, and to provide a strong support system based in God's love, the sustenance of faith and the healing power of prayer in meeting the needs of our church family and community afflicted with cancer.

Our goal is to network with other cancer patients and their families both in the church and community for the purpose of encouraging, providing practical assistance and sharing God's love.

The Cancer Support Group meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Marriage on the Rock
Marriage on the Rock is a marriage mentoring program for couples who are considering engagement, marriage, or who are recently married and experiencing difficulties. Marriage on the Rock provides a point of contact and a source of wise counsel for those desiring to have a marriage that is based on biblical principles. You can get started in Marriage on the Rock by calling us at 816-353-1994.

JobLinks
JobLinks is a ministry of First Baptist Raytown for those needing job search assistance, prayer, and support during unemployment. JobLinks meets on the second Monday of each month in the Fellowship Hall. Tips on writing a good resume and effectively presenting your skills in an interview are available to participants.
