The Heart of Worship
The purpose of the Worship Ministry at First Baptist Raytown is to honor God by preparing and prompting His people in corporate and individual expressions of adoration. The Worship Ministry leads believers into meaningful worship of God. It also seeks to present the good news of Jesus Christ to those who don't know Him through music and drama.

Worship is at the heart of First Baptist Raytown's services. FBR uses a blended style of worship, recognizing that God can speak and move through both traditional hymns and contemporary choruses. Whether it is through choir or orchestra specials, or in corporate worship, music and drama enhance the worshipper's experience and help lead in moments of transformation and wonder. Celebration Choir
Celebration Choir, our adult choir, leads in worship each Sunday morning and forms the nucleus for the annual Heart of America Christmas Pageant and other productions throughout the year. If you would like to try us out, we would love to have you join us at our regularly scheduled rehearsal on Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Celebration Hall (A222). No audition is required, just a heart of faithfulness! For further information, contact Lynn Lewallen, Assistant to the Worship Pastor, at llewallen@firstbaptistraytown.com

Celebration Orchestra
“Play skillfully with a shout of joy.” (Psalm 33:3b)

Christians are instructed to worship and praise our Heavenly Father through song and instruments, and the Celebration Orchestra helps lead in weekly Sunday worship. We are a family of musicians who enjoy worshiping Jesus with excellence each week during our blended Sunday morning worship service and special events throughout the year.

The orchestra is open to anyone high school aged and above who is able to play the music in our library. Experience level typically needed is three to four years of playing. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the orchestra room (A213). New musicians are always welcome; if you are interested in this ministry and would like to know more, contact Larry Jones at 816-778-1115 or email ljones@firstbaptistraytown.com.

Contemporary Worship Band
We’re the crew who leads the way in worship for the 11:00 a.m. contemporary service at FBR. We bring a modern sound to the table and are always on the lookout for guitarists, bassists, drummers, percussionists, singers, and piano and keyboard players who desire to bring glory to Christ through music. It is all for Jesus and through Jesus! We rehearse on Wednesday nights in the Worship Center and would love to have you stop in if you are interested in being a part of the team. To schedule a meeting or audition, contact Jesse Land at 816-778-1121 or jland@firstbaptistraytown.com.

Celebration Players
Did you enjoy being in plays in high school? Perhaps you like to design and decorate scenery, create props or sew costumes. If so, there's a place for you in Celebration Players! The Celebration Players is the flagship of our drama ministry. Rehearsed dramas are featured in worship services, Bible study departments and during special presentations. There are many new and exciting opportunities for service in the drama ministry of First Baptist Raytown! Anyone 16 years and older is welcome.
For more information on how you can be involved in the drama ministry, contact Judy Hastings at 816-778-1100 ext 1519.

Preschool Praise’ntations
Preschool Praise’ntations is for children age 3 (by July 31) through kindergarten. The children present three mini-musicals each year, each revolving around a different theme, such as thankfulness, Jesus as our friend, and praise. Musical concepts and spiritual truths are taught within the framework of the musicals. Preschoolers sing at our annual church-wide Christmas program, in our end-of the year program in May, and at various other times throughout the year. For more information, email Lynn Lewallen at llewallen@firstbaptistraytown.com or you can register here.

WaM – Children’s Choir
WaM is Worship, Arts, Music and is proving to be a big hit with our 1st-6th graders. On January 10, we began working on EVERYDAY HEROES, our spring musical, to be presented in May. We'll be learning about Bible heroes through music, drama and dance and providing opportunities for our kids to be "everyday heroes"! For more information, email Lynn Lewallen at llewallen@firstbaptistraytown.com or you can register here.

Student Choir
Student Choir meets Sundays from 5-6 p.m. in B101. Student Choir is open to all junior and senior high students. Student Choir has several opportunities throughout the year to perform and/or lead in worship services, including a pre-curtain show before each of our Pageant performances. Student Choir is 60 voices strong and growing!

Student Choir is led by Kelly Duckworth. For more information, email Lynn Lewallen at llewallen@firstbaptistraytown.com or you can register here.

Senior Adult Choir
Our Senior Adult choral group meets each Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in A108. This group ministers in nursing homes, as well as at FBR. For more information, contact the worship ministry at 816-353-1994.

There are also other groups for senior adults, including the harmonica band. For information on these and other senior adult opportunities, contact Larry Thomas at 816-778-1103.

Camp Applause
July 19-22 |   9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

The new and improved Camp Applause will be July 19-22 this year. We’re adding more small groups with high kid appeal and changing to a new format with high parent appeal! If Camp Applause is new to you, it’s our fine arts camp for kids who have finished kindergarten through those who have finished sixth grade. Camp Applause combines music, art, dance, tech, drama, and many other classes in a fun-packed four days. The kids choose their “everyday” class and get to explore many other mediums during the week.

Parents…
We think you’ll like our new format of 9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9:00 a.m.-noon on Thursday, July 19-22, with Family Night on Thursday evening.
• A light lunch will be provided for your children Monday through Wednesday
• This gives you more time to do fun stuff while your child is at camp.
• This means you wear your “chauffeur” cap for four days instead of five.
• Family Night on Thursday evening means you can still get away for the weekend if you want without missing Family Night.

You’ll want to sign up early so that your child gets the everyday small group of their choice. To ensure that you get the t-shirt size you want, register before July 12.
