A Simple Act

You might think you have nothing to give to make an impact in someone’s life, but these sweet thank you notes say the opposite is true. In the last few months our widows and homebound members received handmade Valentines from our deacons and their wives; handmade ornaments, a group photograph, and a Christmas card from our 7th and 8th grade girls; and care packages at Christmas hand delivered by sweet volunteers.

Read for yourself how a simple act of kindness makes these women feel loved and cared for by their church family:

I’m a shut-in, and I watch the service on my computer, but it doesn’t compare to actually being at church. I can’t say enough about our church. It is outstanding and the people do so much for me. I kept the picture of the 7th and 8th grade children they sent me at Christmas, and I keep the lovely Valentine I received from the deacons in my window sill where I can see it every day. They make me feel so special! - Elsie Hamilton

Thank you for the Valentine’s greeting that you sent. Our church shows love in so many ways. - Donna Robertson

Thank you so much for the card and prayers. I am back with my son and his wife and they are taking good care of me. God has been very good to me for almost 90 years. I do pray you can read this. I have Macular and do not see very good to write. May the Lord work His will in the lives of First Baptist Church Raytown. - Ruby Waters

I wanted to thank the church and the 7th and 8th graders for preparing the Christmas bag of goodies!!!  Also, Paul Phillips and Don Patton are a blessing and are encouragers when they bless me by visiting!!!  Bless all of you with health, happiness, and great spirits as you serve our Lord and Savior in 2014. - Ruth Varner

We were surprised and delighted with the baskets – so many goodies! It was fun to pick our treat and such a diverse selection, and all the things we enjoy now and some to remember you and the 7th & 8th grade girls for years to come. We loved the photo! I taught 3rd grade there for over 20 years – what a blessing young people are! Thank you so much for thinking of us. God bless each one of you. - Mary Kelly
