Daily Prayer Guide

SUNDAY

Pray for the Outreach of our church. We want to be a church that exists primarily for those who aren’t here yet. Pray that our people will be living examples of the love and message of Jesus Christ. We will be a multi-generational church that focuses on the missing generation.

Hot Topics: 3 questions about love & marriage

So far this week I have only answered one question per day from my Hot Topics series, but today I am going to cover three questions, all about love and marriage. Here are three of your submitted questions and the answers found in God’s Word:

What's wrong with people living together before marriage?

Hot Topic: Why is gambling a sin?

We surveyed our church and asked for the most pressing questions they have about Scripture or what the Bible says about controversial modern day issues. I’ll be answering many of those questions over the course four weeks in my series Hot Topics. In case you missed the first message, here’s the second question I answered:

Why is gambling a sin?

Hot Topic: Should a Christian have a tattoo?

We surveyed our church and asked for the most pressing questions they have about Scripture or what the Bible says about controversial modern day issues. I’ll be answering many of those questions over the course four weeks in my new series Hot Topics. In fact, I just answered eight of those questions yesterday in the first message. In case you missed the message, I’ll answer one question or category of questions each day throughout the week right here on the FBR blog.

Dr. Brandon Park receives award from Raytown School District

On Sunday, April 6, Dr. Allan Markley, Superintendent of Raytown Schools, presented Senior Pastor Dr. Brandon Park with a plaque to recognize his leadership in the church as First Baptist Raytown opened its doors to Raytown students.

A Simple Act

You might think you have nothing to give to make an impact in someone’s life, but these sweet thank you notes say the opposite is true. In the last few months our widows and homebound members received handmade Valentines from our deacons and their wives; handmade ornaments, a group photograph, and a Christmas card from our 7th and 8th grade girls; and care packages at Christmas hand delivered by sweet volunteers.

Give YOUR Way

Tithing is one of those "churchy" words, but what is it exactly, anyway? Dictionary.com defines the word tithe as:

the tenth part of personal income set apart as an offering to God or for works of mercy, or the same amount regarded as an obligation or tax for the support of the church, priesthood, or the like.

Protecting Freedom While Walking in the Freedom of Christ

This time last year, our church family was actively collecting toiletries, batteries, books, socks, ziplock bags, candy, snacks, and basically anything else soldiers could use when everything had been lost.

On April 15, 2012, during a six-month deployment to Afghanistan, Sgt. 1st Class Alex Worth was 90 feet away from the VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) that attacked his unit’s base, injuring many and destroying everything.

Israel Video Blog: Day 12

Today was our last day in Israel, so some of us decided to visit the Israel Museum, where we were able to see a model of the city of Jerusalem as it would have looked in Jesus' day as well as see remnants of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was another great day. We are now boarding the plane to come home. I've had a great two weeks touring and learning in Israel, but I am ready to be back with all of you. I will see you Sunday.
